Walk a short distance further and you can follow a coastal path with views across the Solent towards the Isle of Wight. Via the local ferry terminal you can take your car or bicycle, or travel as a foot passenger, on a 15 minute trip to Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight. See the Isle of Wight Tourism website for places to visit. From Lymington Quay, Puffin Cruises operates various river and island trips. In Lymington itself you will find open air sea water swimming baths, free tennis courts, swings and slides, a bandstand, and a local authority fitness centre. The big attraction on Saturdays is the large market which takes place along the whole of the High Street. There are several excellent restaurants, pubs, tea, coffee, ice cream and sea food parlours, plus a small cinema. The library has an internet cafe in case you want to stay in touch digitally. Less than 10 minutes' drive and you are in the heart of the New Forest, with its scenic attractions and ponies, cattle, pigs and donkeys roaming freely in and out of villages and across the plains. The obvious local attractions are the scenery, variety of shops and fine dining, all in a relaxing atmosphere and within 3 minutes' walk of the cottage. |
